What are the advantages to a housecleaning service rather than an independent contractor?
Locating, interviewing, hiring, training and unfortunately firing an independent contractor can be not only a hassle but also frustrating. Maid in North Carolina has been providing quality housekeeping services since 1989, we prescreen and train all employees. We also pay all employee taxes and workerís compensation, and our insurance policies guarantee your security. Additionally, your home will always be cleaned on your scheduled cleaning date. If your regular team leader is out for any reason, your secondary team leader and team will arrive to clean your home on the scheduled date, unless youíd prefer to reschedule.

How does Maid in North Carolina house cleaning service work?
Every client's needs are different, so your Maid in North Carolina house cleaning team will work from your customer information sheet. In order to assure your needs are met, we record your preferences as to exactly how you want your home cared for. If your needs will be different from one cleaning date to the next, just call our office so we can customize your list specify any special projects that you would like performed.

How often will you clean my home?
We offer one-time, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or bi-monthly service, or occasional call-in services. Just let us know what your needs are, we are happy to customize your house cleaning schedule.

How many people will you send to clean my home?
Our cleaning team consists of 2 people, not 4 as with many other services. We find that two people work more efficiently and coordinate their work more effectively. Of course, we leave the option open with a very large job to send a team of 3, or two teams, each with a team leader to assure proper completion of the job and thorough customer satisfaction.

Do I have to provide you with cleaning supplies?
Maid in North Carolina provides all supplies and equipment, unless you prefer that our house cleaning team use yours. If there are any special instructions, please call the office and weíll be certain that your customer information sheet is updated accordingly. (For example: some of our customers prefer that the house cleaning team use vinegar and water to clean hardwood floors. Your customer information sheet would specify this requirement, along with where to find the vinegar in your home.)

How will I know I can trust your house cleaning teams to come into my home?
All our house cleaning teams are REQUIRED to pass a 20 year background check prior to being hired by Maid in North Carolina. Additionally, our house cleaning teams are fully trained and experienced, and Maid in North Carolina is bonded and insured. For security, only our team leaders carry your key, and the keys are stored in a doubly-locked box at our offices. For added security, keys are coded individually and cross-referenced separately.

Do I need to be home when our house cleaning team arrives?
You can make a variety of different arrangements for your house cleaning team to enter your home if you will not be there. We recommend that you provide a key to be kept in our office once you have established a regularly scheduled service. For security, only our team leaders carry your key, and the keys are stored in a doubly-locked box at our offices. For added security, keys are coded individually and cross-referenced separately.

What will Maid in North Carolina house cleaning teams do in my home?
Generally our service includes the items listed in our SERVICES section. However, you set the priorities for what services you would like your Maid in North Carolina house cleaning team to provide. We provide a free, personalized estimate that reflects your personal cleaning needs, and we will always try our best to accommodate all your requests.

How does the house cleaning team know what needs to be done?
Every client's needs are different, so your house cleaning team will work from the list you provided our office. Our preference is that you call our office when you have specific needs, that way the teams will know in advance how to best service your home. If additional notes are left for the team, they will be brought back to the office to be added to your customer information sheet.

Do you require cancellation notice?
If you need to change or cancel a scheduled service, we appreciate one business day's notice.

If we find a house cleaning team that we really like, can we request them again?
Of course! You should know that the most experienced house cleaning teams are quickly booked by regular clients. We assure you that we will do everything possible to assign your preferred team to your account. We also like to have one other team leader familiar with your account.

What if I am not happy with the housecleaning team?
If, for any reason, you are not satisfied, we will assign a team leader who better suits your needs for the next service. If you are not happy we want to know so we can make things right!

Is tipping allowed?
Certainly, if you are pleased with the quality of work and feel so inclined, tipping is graciously accepted, but not required. If you prefer to leave an extra amount on your payment, rest assured 100% of those funds go directly to the team on that serviced your home, and they are notified of the customer who tipped.

Do I need to do anything before the cleaning?
In order to give you the greatest value, we suggest that you take a few minutes the night before to pick up extraneous clothing, toys and other household items.

What form of payment do you accept?
We accept MasterCard and Visa debit or credit for your convenience. Or, if you prefer you can pay your house cleaning team with cash at the time of your service. Regularly scheduled customers may pay by check.

What if something is damaged when my home is cleaned?
We carry liability insurance. In the unlikely event that something should become damaged or broken while we are cleaning your home, we will make every effort to have the item repaired, or replaced if it cannot be repaired. Insurance claims will be filed when appropriate. We treat your home with considerable care to ensure that accidents do not occur.

Am I subject to employer responsibilities like worker's compensation, insurance or taxes?
Not if you hire Maid in North Carolina! Maid in North Carolina is the employer of the domestic workers sent to your home. As the employer we are responsible for all employment taxes and worker's compensation under state and federal law.

PLEASE NOTE:Should you choose to hire an independent contractor - or a maid service that sends you independent contractors, the domestic worker may be your employee depending upon the relationship you have with him or her. If you direct and control the manner and means by which the domestic worker performs his or her work you may have employer responsibilities, including employment taxes and worker's compensation, under state and federal law. For additional information contact your local Employment Development Department, the Franchise Tax Board, and the IRS.
